Being Naked

When I was younger, I encountered many different bodies while drawing nude models at art academy. This taught me to appreciate a wide range of bodies. Everyone has insecurities, but these experiences allowed me to shift my perspective and say: this is my body, and I love it.

Today, I am older. My body has changed, as I am now a mother of four. As a mother, I find it important to show my children what real bodies look like. We live in a world where social media largely shapes our perception of how bodies should appear, and where nudity is almost exclusively associated with sexuality.

My photographs function as a counterbalance to these unrealistic ideas and expectations. They open up a space for conversation about accepting our bodies, fostering self-love and body positivity, and normalising nudity by separating it from sexuality.

The images are direct and honest — powerful and vulnerable at the same time.

This exhibition was presented at Noorderzon 2025, in collaboration with NonFiction Photo. Alongside the exhibition, a series of Society Talks addressed these themes.
