Artist Statement

I have a background in printmaking, working extensively with templates and graphic techniques such as linocut. This has shaped my attention to form, shape, and surface, forming the foundation of my work in photography and other visual practices.

My younger brother is blind, which has always made me aware of looking and being looked at, and of the possibility of deviating from the norm. This awareness has led me to question what is considered normal.

In my work, I focus on form, posture, and the sense of estrangement they can produce. I examine these elements and create sculptural representations of the human figure. The body is my material. I explore the boundary at which a body ceases to be human and becomes something else. A posture or a detail can become a world in itself.

Through my work, I raise questions about how we perceive ourselves and others. By sharing my perspective, I offer an alternative way of looking at the body.
